CARTER PERFORMING HER SONG ‘BARCELONA BABY’ ROOMROCK PRESENTS 24´
RoomRock discovery: Carter – "Barcelona Baby"
Well, I don’t need your soft winds. I don’t need your red sky. I don’t need sharp tongues or light from haloed moons. You can keep your dice and bones and your polished nickel. You can have your tea leaf and falling snow. All I need is that voice.
When I listen to Carter sing and play guitar, I’m reminded of the first time I heard a young Sierra Ferrell on the streets of New Orleans. Or Alynda Segarra of Hurray for the Riff Raff in a cathedral. Or Jolie Holland, showing up late to a club in San Diego and captivating a restless crowd the moment she began to sing.
It’s that voice — the kind of voice that carries stories and emotion with such raw clarity you can't quite place where it comes from… only that you feel it, instantly and completely.
So no — I don’t need a Zortan machine or an open palm. And you can put away your singing fish to know that
we’ll be hearing a lot more from Carter in the future.
And what a place to begin.
We at MINUS1000 were lucky enough to have Carter perform her song “Barcelona Baby” as part of our RoomRock Presents performance series.
For us and for her it’s only the beginnig folks!
